- I've never climbed before. Is that okay?
Absolutely. We welcome climbers of all skill levels.
- Do I need my own equipment?
No, the club has equipment that you may use since climbing gear can be expensive. Many club members have decided to purchase their own gear, but it is not a requirement.
- How much does it cost?
For Spring 2008, it will
cost $10. We are currently revising our dues
policy while we revise our Constitution. More
information soon.
- Where do you go climbing?
Most of the time we climb at the Thompson Campus Center at A.T. Still University. However, we also take trips to Upper Limits in St. Louis, MO and to Capen Park in Columbia, MO. Trips to other destinations are also planned a few times each year.
- What do I need to bring on a trip?
For indoor trips you will need: money for entrance fees (and possibly equipment rentals), food/water (or money to purchase these), climbing gear (if you own any), and gas money. For outdoor trips everything is the same, with the exception (usually) of entrance fee money.
- What gear should I buy?
The best thing for a beginner to buy is a pair of rock climbing shoes. Check out the links section for stores that sell shoes. A chalk bag and ball are also a good idea.
